Monett School Board members reviewed reports on homelessness and counseling during their February meeting, and adopted a new recommended policy on marijuana use by employees. Homelessness has become a much bigger issue in the Monett schools than in the past.

Craft, who became owner of the newspaper in January 2023, recounted how the newspaper moved into the former Cox Monett Hospital.
The Monett City Council approved its budget for the 2024-25 fiscal year, beginning on April 1, during its March 20 meeting, as council members noted several impending changes. City Administrator Chris Weiner said following the unveiling of the budget in February, the minor change that developed will stop the plan to expand the tree trimming crew by adding someone out of the street department.

She attended Bolivar High School, then later graduated from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield with her bachelor’s in education degree.
Gracie Delores Ray, age 80, of Aurora, Missouri, passed away at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She was born May 15, 1943, in Picher, Oklahoma, the daughter of Walter Thomas and Ida Mae (McDonald) Wolfinbarger.
