USSSA fastpitch tournament on July 16

The Monett Youth Baseball Softball League has put another season in the books, ending on Saturday with tournament championships in multiple area cities. Shawn Beeson, MYBSL Tournament Director, said the MYBSL was accepted into the Southwest League, comprised of 12 area city leagues: Washburn, Exeter, Cassville, Wheaton, Purdy, Monett, Pierce City, Tri-Way, Granby, Diamond and Sarcoxie.

Trinity Lutheran School in Freistatt has honored the fourth quarter Outstanding Students after chapel service on Jan. 13. Time to shine

Purdy residents Brennan Hawkin, Sophee Hawkins and Jackson Lee brows some of the fireworks that are available in Monett. Fireworks booths have popped up throughout the area and as residents stock up on their annual Independence Day pyrotechnics, the City of Monett is reminding residents that fireworks should only be set off from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 2 and Sunday, July 3 and from 10 a.m. to midnight Monday, July 4. Frank C. Perch

Frank C. Perch was born July 16, 1945, in Pulaskifield, Missouri, one of seven children to Clarence and Sophie (Keuchel) Perch. He entered into rest on June 25, 2022, at Joplin, Missouri, at the age of 76. Frank attended the Catholic School in Pulaskifield and then attended high school at St. Agnes and seminary at Sacred Heart Seminary in Springfield, Missouri. Frank served in the U.S. Marines for many years. He worked for MoDOT and in 1999, retired from MoDOT as a supervisor. Frank enjoyed fishing, boating, sports, especially, Cardinal baseball and buying things in bulk. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and Relay for Life. He was a member of St. Canera’s Catholic Church and was very devoted to his Catholic faith. On August 14, 1965, Frank and Judy Jane Cherry were united in marriage at Pulaskifield and she preceded him in death on March 16, 2021.

Pauline Hillburn, 91, of Monett, Mo., passed away at the Sarcoxie Nursing Center in Sarcoxie, Mo., on Friday morning, June 24, 2022. Pauline was born on January 1, 1931, in Smithville, Ark., daughter of the late Alvie and Florence (Doyle) Matney.
