Midway through summer season, Thrashers are doing swimmingly
Coming to the midpoint of their summer swimming season, the Monett Water Thrashers have been seeing success during competition. The team won the Joplin Invitational on June 10 and the Lamar Invitational on June 24; they also took second place at the Monett Invitational on June 3 and sixth place at the Fort Scott meet on June 17.

New directory provides quick, easy means to locate interred loved ones at Pierce City Cemetery Members of the Pierce City Cemetery Association were on hand at the Pierce City Cemetery during Memorial Day Weekend to help those who came to decorate the graves of loved ones find where their deceased family members were buried, and this year, they had a new tool to use in the search: A cemetery directory put together by Ron Bowen. “This directory for the cemetery allows family members to come and find out where their family member is,” said Ellis Motley, a member of the Pierce City Cemetery Association, “and you can either just look by yourself or you can get some assistance from a book … for a specific area.” .

Higher prices drive essential 2023 projects Inflation combined with a mild winter appears to have seriously limited plans for maintenance and upgrading by road districts in the Monett area this year. The Monett Special Road District partnered with the City of Monett for its major project of the year, laying hot mix on a half-mile of Farm Road 2230, from Highway H to 17th Street in the city.

In a press release, the department stated they had received reports of farmers who pay for hay upfront through a wire transfer, only for the hay to never be delivered.
