Police work evolving in Monett
New technology, layers of leadership and specialized training are transforming the Monett Police Department. Police Chief George Daoud said operations at the Monett Justice Center have changed since dispatching moved to the county level last year.

Sales tax income to bicounty cities and the two county governments held fairly even in February compared to a year ago, despite the shift resulting from Monett’s use tax pulling down the overall Barry County total. Monett’s two sales taxes at a total of 1 percent generated $213,657.72 for the city’s general fund.

GOCAPS students at Monett High School are holding a clothing drive for adult hospital patients in need until March 10. Those who wish to donate new or gently used clothing can drop them off at the high school office or counselor’s office. Monetary donations for purchasing clothes can also be made at the high school office.
