School’s out!

For some Monett educators, school’s out…forever. Debra Wycuff, assistant principal at Monett Elementary School, has worked with the Monett District for 31 years and had the opportunity to ring the bell at Monett Elementary School in observance of her retirement at the end of the academic year. EIGHTY YEARS AGO May 29-June 4, 1942 • The Monett Steam Laundry has installed a new triple-head steam presser. The Pantex shirt unit works on an assembly line basis, with cuffs and collars ironed in one operation and sleeves put over two form pressers.

The Pierce City Senior Center will be serving lunch from noon to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, Everyone is welcome and lunch is $5 for those ages 55 and older, and $6 for those under 55. Carry-out meals will be available to those who contact the center at 417-476-5006 before 10:30 a.m. Also, Nell’s Nails will be serving seniors for a nominal fee at 9 a.m. the first Thursday of each month.

Purdy FBLA students to compete at nationals

Purdy freshman Nathan Harris (left) and senior M’kena Propps (right) will be competing against students from across the nation at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference this June in Chicago. Harris and Propps were among 16 Purdy students who recently competed at the FBLA State Leadership Conference in Springfield, where Harris placed third in Intro to Business Concepts and Propps placed third in Client Service.
