OFO director says goodbye

Following the Ozark Festival Orchestra’s Pops in the Park concert at the Monett City Park Casino on April 24, Music Director Todd Borgmann accepted a standing ovation from the crowd. Borgmann thanked both the orchestra and the audience for his seven years at the helm of the orchestra, after announcing he was stepping down to concentrate on other activities, including his church ministry. Train buffs ride the rails

While in Monett during their trip on the Arkansas and Missouri Railroad last week, a dozen or so USA by Rail group members were able to hop off the train to get some photos of the locomotive in motion. Group leader Simon Bennett said USA by Rail tries to make a trip once a year to ride a new section of the U.S. rail lines, and this year’s excursion on the A&M’s antique cars was a real treat. Monett honor grads named

Honor graduates for Monett High School's Class of 2022 have been announced by Principal Stephanie Heman, and preparations have been formalized for the graduation ceremony on May 13. Class speakers will be Josue Cavazos, Jr., and Abigail Apostol.

Monett treating trees

REDUCING GROWTH Who: Monett utility workers What: Treating trees Why: To reduce growth Where: Along utility corridors Monett is embarking on a new project that aims to reduce tree growth along utility corridors to save utility workers time and save the city money. Over the course of the next several weeks, city utility workers will be injecting some fast-growing trees with paclobutrazol, a chemical that is often used at nurseries that sell young trees to keep them small and transportable for customers.
