When the Monett Motor Speedway opens for its 2024 racing season, it will have new leaders at the helm. Ray Pitts, his wife Stephanie, and Steve Andrews have leased the racetrack for a year, from current owner Kyle Slagle, with an option to buy at the end of the year, said Jeff Ogle, promoter.

At its monthly meeting on March 20, the Monett City Council has scheduled adoption of its annual budget for 2024-25. According to City Administrator Chris Weiner, the budget calls for spending of $56.9 million on city operations and capital improvements, a 13.2 percent increase over the budget ending on March 30.
