Beverly Sue Wiseman, 86, of Monett entered into eternal rest on Monday Jan. 23, 2023 at home in Monett. She was born in Monett on Sept. 5, 1936; the daughter of the late Cecil and Robbie (Weiss) Patton. She was united in marriage in Purdy on June 15, 1956 to Lonnie Wiseman; he preceded her in death on Nov. 28, 2017.

Ernie Gabriel Lawson, age 92, of Miller, passed away at 6:26 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2023, at Sonshine Manor in Republic. He was born Oct. 23, 1930, in Hanford, Calif., the son of Camilla and Marion (Reynolds) Palumbo.

Sharon Pauline Garner

Sharon Pauline Garner, age 80, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 3:17 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield. She was born Oct. 18, 1942, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Lester James and Mary Louise (Doss) Dawson. Sharon graduated high school in California in 1960.

ARPA money funds new health department

Building a new building for the Barry County Health Department had never been on Administrator Roger Brock’s mind before a couple of years ago, but opportunity knocked and the door opened. Funded entirely through the American Rescue Plan Act, the department has now broken ground on a $5 million facility on Old Exeter Road, next to where the new Barry County jail and sheriff’s office are also being constructed.

Man accused of exposing himself

Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies have filed charges against a man accused of exposing himself to a bus full of school children twice in two days. According to court records, Lawerence County resident James Anderson is being charged with three counts of sexual misconduct involving a child under the age of 15.
