The name of the game once district playoffs begin is to survive and advance. An ugly win is better than any pretty loss and nowhere was that saying more on display than Monday in the Class 4, District 12 quarterfinal as Monett pulled out a 25-19 victory over Reeds Spring.

The Purdy and Verona basketball teams entered Wednesday night knowing the tall tasks in front of them in the Class 2, District 12 tournament semifinals and were hoping the Cinderella ride would last one more game. However, midnight struck for both teams as Verona fell 77-50 to stateranked and top seeded Marionville and Purdy came up just short falling 61-59, to second seeded College Heights.
