Barry County Youth ‘Camp Smokey’ bus schedule announced

BARRY COUNTY YOUTH CAMP What: Offers disadvantaged children ages 7-10 the opportunity to attend a free four-day summer camp at Roaring River State Park. When: May 31 through June 3 Organizers of the 57th annual Barry County Youth Camp, taking place at Camp Smokey at Roaring River State Park, have released the bus schedule to pick campers up in Monett, Purdy and Cassville.

Prior to making the appointments, Golubski raised allegations that City Clerk Julie Johnson wasn’t keeping accurate records for 27 various accounts, as compared to the balance sheets he took to the bank to reconcile.

Early season apple butter

Monett Lion Tom Carroll takes a look at cooking apple butter on Thursday. The Monett Lions Club is getting an early jump on its apple butter efforts this year due to a change in the apples the club purchased. Carroll said the apples the club purchased this year have a preservative in them, which means the club cannot use their traditional copper pots to make their popular apple butter. They have one aluminum pot, and plan to use it each week for the next 12 weeks to make sure they have enough apple butter to meet demand this fall.j Mike Gervais/ mgnews@monett-times.com
