Sales tax levels out in September

Sales tax receipts to bi-county cities and county governments at the end of the third quarter of 2023 show a new trend emerging. The COVID pandemic surge in revenues clearly stopped in April after three years. By September more than half the recipients saw less money coming in from local sales than a year ago.

Monett School updates work order

The Monett R-1 Board of Education approved a work proposal from Veregy, LLC for district improvement projects, including the renovation of the old Middle School Building into the new base Administrative Office, as well as the renovation of the maintenance building at 13th and Cleveland. The scope of the work will include a board room audio/ visual system, stormwater drainage, an entrance facade and signage.

October is for raising awareness

Each year, we take some time in October to recognize one of the most lethal killers in the world in hopes of raising awareness and encouraging residents to do what they can to protect themselves. Breast cancer is the most common cancer worldwide—surpassing lung cancer for the first time in 2020— and the most common cancer diagnosed in American women.
