Superintendents speak out on state APR

The recently released Annual Performance Review (APR) of school districts around the state has concerned education leaders for introducing a new evaluation unlike any previous assessment, potentially misleading the public into comparing it with past evaluations. For example, in the last APR from 2019, 320 school districts score at 90 percent or higher.

Freistatt attorney puts suit concern to rest

City attorney says village is clear of lawsuit Freistatt Village Attorney Darwin Groomer said threats of continued lawsuits by local property owner Randy Davidson should not be a cause for concern for village leaders, because the court system has already decided the matter. Davidson attended Freistatt Village Council meetings in January and February to discuss his property in the village and request a settlement that would see water hooked up to his trailer home and the village pay punitive damages he incurred while suing the village for disconnecting water.

Area school districts are digesting new information this month following a release of Annual Performance Review scores from the state. Residents who have tracked the local scores over the years may be surprised at this year’s results, as the state has revamped its review process and set new benchmarks for student performance.
