City sees much to celebrate

After 36 years with the Monett Police Department, and 43 years in law enforcement all together, Kermit Howell bid farewell to co-workers and friends, community members and associates during a celebration of his career and retirement in August. The City of Monett and the department hosted a reception at the Monett Park Casino in Howell’s honor, which was highlighted by the number of guests attending the event.

Education sees something new

With the trials of COVID-19 mostly in the past in the education world, Monett saw a return to normalcy in 2022 and saw a number of advances. The Life360 Resource Center spent much of the year building a new preschool that opened this past January, students continued their education at local schools and a beloved coach was honored with a huge recognition.

Monett’s leaders in industry in 2022

Last year was a banner year for local industry, with IMEC being honored for its efforts, and Schreiber Foods announcing the creating of a new foundation designed to improve the communities it serves. Schreiber Foundation In an effort to make a difference in the communities it serves, Schreiber Foods announced the creation of The Schreiber Foods Foundation in February of 2022.

BACK IN THE GOOD OLD DAYS

March 26-April 1, 1943 • On March 27, the War Mothers Club hosted a dinner and dance for 125 men and officers of the Organization 206th Signal Depot from Camp Crowder. The dinner was planned, cooked and served by the mothers.

FAMILY IS EVERYTHING

At 11:11 pm on 3.21.23, the matriarch of the Nolan Crew passed away from this world surrounded by her loving and much loved family and Johnny Mathis. Claudia Dianne Stewart was born on December 10, 1942 at the Aurora Hospital to Monett’s favorite kindergarten teacher, Delores Stewart, and the voice of KRMO, Floyd Stewart.
