The Monett boys basketball team (4-4) earned a win at home over Clever on Tuesday, 62-51. “We executed well tonight offensively and had some guys step up in the absence of Isiah Meeks,” said Jeremy Neville, cubs head coach. “Blaine Salsman was very aggressive and had a nice game scoring the ball. Marcus Young also did a nice job of being aggressive and getting his shots up. Jason Garner continues to run a great game from the point guard position. Defensively, we really need to improve over the break and clean up some things that are hurting us.” Salsman led Monett with 19 points, and Young added 15. Garner scored 9, Landyn Brandt had 8, Ethan Kutz 6 and Ian Waterman 5. Monett returns to action in the Neosho Holiday tournament, facing Huntsville (Ark.) in the opener.
