Friends at odds on best method to stay in touch
I have a much younger friend in another state, and we like to keep in touch. I prefer email, as I’m elderly, hard of hearing and look after my husband, who is having cognitive problems. I have no household help. My husband and I are both on restricted medical diets that require cooking most meals from scratch and we both have many medical appointments. Therefore, my free time is limited.

Betty Ann (Rapp) Bassore
Betty Ann (Rapp) Bassore, 88, Marionville, Missouri, died Tuesday morning, December 20, 2022, at Cox Hospital in Monett. Betty was born in Marionville, Missouri on March 4, 1934, to Earl and Iva (Odom) Rapp. A funeral service under the direction of the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora, was held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at the Marionville First Baptist Church. Burial followed at the Marionville IOOF Cemetery.

Cause of death still undetermined
An autopsy conducted as part of an investigation into the death of Monett resident Jeannie Lester, 62, who was discovered in Kelly Creek Saturday, Dec. 17 has ruled out a number potential causes of death, but Monett Police are still hoping a toxicology report may shed more light on the case.

Members of the Monett School Board approved a new Kubota maintenance tractor purchase from Crown Power and Equipment in the amount of $28,000 with the trade-in of the 2015 Farmall, valued at $30,000. According to Steve Garner, operations director, the Farmall had been in the shop several times and was in need of replacement.
