Back in the good old days, Nov. 27-Dec. 3

As November ended in 1962, so did preparations for the Veterans’ Gift Shop campaign by local American Legion Auxiliaries. Pictured as some of the gifts for veterans, their wives and children, sent to the VA Hospital in Poplar Bluff on Nov. 30. Assisting in the collection were, seated from left, Mrs. Mal Wagstaff, president, and Minnie Balden, rehabilitation chairman. Feeling gnomely tonight?

Got gnomes? Founders of Together Let’s Create (TLC), located at Life360 Resource Center in Monett, hosted a pinecone gnome craft workshop on Wednesday for students who found themselves off for Thanksgiving break and members of the community who were feeling crafty. The project was a huge success, with gnome characters ranging from superheroes to pirates. TLC will host regular Wednesday morning craft and art sessions at 10 a.m. at the Event Center, for homeschooled students and members of the public who wish to attend. A $5 donation is suggested by not required.

Couple to celebrate 50th

On Nov. 23, 2022, Patty (Lillegard) Leach and Kirby Leach will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary. They have two children, Scott Leach and Shelly Gregory of Monett, and three grandsons, Conner Leach, Cody Gregory, and Colton Gregory.

Berean Christian Academy receives grant

The MFA Oil Co. has awarded a grant to Berean Christian Academy in Monett to purchase Access Door Controllers and security system hardware for all exterior doors. MFA Oil Foundation provides support to non-profit organizations that are working to improve communities where MFA Oil has a significant concentration of members and employees. The Foundation has awarded more than one million dollars in grants since it was established in 1998. Purdy Elementary announces honor roll students

Officials at Purdy Elementary School have released the names of students in grades three through six that have been named to the honor roll for the first quarter of the 2022-2023 academic year.
