Notice is hereby given that the Pierce City Fire Protection District will conduct its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, at the Pierce City fire station, 2543 Lawrence 2225 in Pierce City. Items to be discussed will be the financial, station maintenance and budget. The public is welcome to attend. Lawrence County Historical Society will again have the historic Adamson Cabin and Museum open for visitors during Apple Butter Makin’ Days in Mt. Vernon. They are located at 11110 Lawrence 1137, adjoining the west side of the Mt. Vernon Golf Course. There will be blacksmiths practicing their art; a broom maker using antique equipment to make brooms; and the cabin will be set up as it would have been in the 1800s. Cabin hours are the same as ABMD: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 7 and 8, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9. The adjoining museum will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. The LCHS Museum will also be open from 1 to 4 p.m. the remaining Sundays in October before closing for the season.
