Cubs bear down on East Newton

Eagles fly to final road game

The Pierce City football team will wrap up its four-game, mid-season road swing today with one of its biggest challenges on the schedule, undefeated Marionville. The Eagles (2-3) are coming off a confident 47-7 victory over Clever on the road, and today’s game will give way to three home contests to wrap up the regular season.

The Pierce City Senior Center will be serving lunch from noon to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Everyone is welcome and lunch is $5 for those ages 55 and older, and $6 for those under 55. Carry-out meals will be available to those who contact the center at 417-476-5006 before 10:30 a.m. Carry-out meals may be picked up between 11:30 a.m. and noon. Also, Nell’s Nails will be serving seniors for a nominal fee at 9 a.m. the first Thursday of each month. The Monett Senior Center is open for dinein lunches for a suggested donation of $3.50 for ages 60 and up. The price for those 59 and under is $6. The senior center will be open for dining from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Senior Center is also hosting BINGO every Wednesday at noon and Nell’s Nails will be serving seniors beginning at 9 a.m. the last Friday of each month. The Senior Center also hosts card games every Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. and aid for residents on Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and Food stamps. Call the Senior Center to schedule an appointment. Jolly Mill’s annual History Day program will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, at Jolly Mill Park. Demonstrations will include rope making, hit-and-miss engines, hay bale making and antique tractors will be on display. Saw mill demonstrations are also scheduled throughout the day. Concessions will be available at the park. Admission is free. Jolly Mill is located 10 miles southwest of Monett, south of Highway 60 on Farm Road 1010 and west onto Farm Road 2025.

6 inducted into Monett Hall of Fame

The Monett Athletics Hall of Fame extended its wall of honorees on Friday, inducting six new members that include four athletes, a late coach and a broadcaster. Following a catered lunch, Monett Athletic Director Daryl Bradley introduced former Monett Superintendent John Jungmann, one of four current or former superintendents at the event.

David Ami Tucker, 80, of Monett, MO, passed from this life to his eternal home on Thursday morning, September 22, 2022 while at his home. David was born on Aug ust 5, 1942 Springfield, MO, son of the late John and Maxine (Reynaud) Tucker. Funeral services were held Monday, September 26, 2022 at Buchanan Funeral Home with Pastor Nancy DeJager officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. David will be laid to rest in the Waldensian Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the New Liberty Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
