The Ozark Festival Orchestra began rehearsals on Tuesday, Sept. 6, for its 43rd season, opening with its first concert on Sunday, Oct. 9. Rehearsals are at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Monett High School Performing Arts Center, 1 David Sippy Drive, Monett. Musicians are welcome to attend rehearsals and play in the orchestra, depending on ability and specific instruments needed for selections scheduled. Kerry Helen Metevier, age 45, of Marionville, passed away at 7:41 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Aurora. She was born May 31, 1977, in Clovis, N.M. the daughter of Jim and Athol (Evans) Miller. A visitation was held Friday, Sept. 2, 2022, at the Williams Funeral Home, in Marionville. Robert Thomas Icks, age 76, of Marionville passed away at 9:04 p.m. on Monday, August 29, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. He was born October 20, 1945, in Lawrence, Kansas, the son of William Malvin and Anna Margurite (Burns) Icks . A graveside service under the direction of the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the Mt. Olive Cemetery. Visitation was on Friday, September 2, 2022, in the funeral home chapel.

Christine James, age 85, of Springfield, died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Burial will be at Corinth Cemetery in Cassville.

43 years on the job

After 36 years with the Monett Police Department, and 43 years in law enforcement all together, Kermit Howell has bid farewell to co-workers and friends, community members and associates during a celebration of his career and retirement. The city of Monett and the department hosted a reception at the Monett Park Casino in Howell’s honor, which was highlighted by the number of guests attending the event.
