Johnnie Everett Elliott, age 80, of Marionville, passed away at 7:39 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. He was born June 6, 1942, in Chesapeake, the son of Johnnie and Lueda (Rinker) Elliott.
Robert Dale Bourne, age 83, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 1:52 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at the Aurora Nursing Home in Aurora. He was born July 10, 1939, in Mt. Vernon, son of Paul Edward and Helen Marie (Swearigen) Bourne.
Lynna Kay Bloom, age 79, of Aurora, passed away at 9:21 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2023, at the University of Kansas Health Systems in Kansas City, Kan. She was born Jan. 25, 1944, in Hanford, Calif., the daughter of Henry and Hazel (Garner) Hyden.
DEAR ABBY: Our mom just turned 100, and she is in good health. I threw a big birthday celebration to honor this amazing woman. My brother and I were adopted as infants. She gave us a fabulous childhood, and we grew up to be responsible adults.
Local youngsters are set to benefit from a series of grants issued by the Monett Area Community Foundation totaling $40,000 last week. The Community Foundation presented a $10,000 grant to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to support its literacy program for children ages 0 to 5.
Thieves ram truck into gas station to steal ATM Two as-of-yet unknown men robbed the Yonkerville Gas Station overnight on Wednesday, April 19 by using a stolen truck to ram a hole in the building’s doorway. They then took the gas station’s ATM and fled.
