If cold weather is giving pickleball enthusiasts the cold shoulder — or court — the Monett Area YMCA has the answer. The warm indoor courts offer both beginners and advanced players the opportunity to enjoy the game in comfort. Advanced play takes place from 9-11 a.m. on Tuesday and Saturdays, and 4:45-6:45 p.m. on Friday. Beginning players are welcome from 8-10 a.m. on Monday and Thursday.

Pierce City aldermen took steps to tighten up some of the requirements for those wishing to declare themselves candidates for mayor or the city council. Monday evening, aldermen approved adding language to the candidate declaration form that requests two forms of identification proving residency, including utility bill, lease agreement or mortgage statement, driver’s license, home owner’s insurance, property tax receipt or a paycheck stub.
