Warren Arnett

Warren Leroy Arnett, 95, of Monett, Mo., passed from this life on Saturday morning, August 20, 2022 at his residence. Warren was born on May 9, 1927, in Roswell, N.M., son of Roy A. and Gertrude Alice (Bryant) Arnett. He attended school at Oakdale High School in Oakdale, Cali., and worked for Hershey Candy Company. He was a member of the Southside Church of Christ in Monett. He enjoyed going fishing and hunting and doing woodworking. However, nothing brought him as much enjoyment as spending time with his family. On March 5, 1950, in Merced, Cali., Warren and Mary Bernice Johnson were united in marriage and enjoyed seventy-twoyearstogether. Warren is survived by his wife, Bernice, of the home; one son, Lanny Arnett of Gateway, Ark.; two daughters, Vicki Bumgardner and husband Bruce of Billings, Mo., and Laura Hoppe of Monett; twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Wade of Lebanon, Mo., and Sandy Arnett of Marionville, Mo.

Returners to lead Monett XC

Monett’s many fountains explained

Most area residents are familiar with the fountains at Monett’s South Park, cascading cool geysers into the sun-kissed summer sky, but many may be surprised to know that the fixtures at the rose garden and in the Sportsman’s League Lake are just a small part of the city’s historic fascination with water features. Mark Henderson, with the Monett Historical Society, presented members of the Monett Kiwanis Club with an historic review of the former fountains located within the city proper.
