The Pierce City Senior Center will be serving lunch from noon to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Everyone is welcome and lunch is $5 for those ages 55 and older, and $6 for those under 55. Carry-out meals will be available to those who contact the center at 417- 476-5006 before 10:30 a.m. Also, Nell’s Nails will be serving seniors for a nominal fee at 9 a.m. the first Thursday of each month.

The current water distribution system work is nearing completion in Pierce City, and toward that end, Jerry Goins, of Goins Enterprises in Joplin, recently addressed aldermen concerning the billing for water line locates for the project.

Kermit Howell has never heard of the Great Resignation, the trend in which employees have voluntarily resigned from their jobs en masse, beginning in early 2021. In fact, the patrol officer with the Monett Police Department has been the personification of a generation that was committed to a strict work ethic, showing up on time and ready to hit the ground running.

Teachers at the Pierce City School District will soon be receiving a 13th paycheck, and possibly a 14th, totaling $5,500, offered through a grant from the State of Missouri, raising teachers' base pay to a minimum of $38,000 per year.
