The 59th annual Wheaton Barbecue will be held on Saturday, Aug. 26 in the city park, beginning with the car show at 11 a.m. Grandstand entertainment will begin at 2 p.m. with the Flyin’ Buzzards. Free carnival rides will be available, as well as a petting zoo from the Wheaton FFA and an arts and crafts show. Firefighters will prepare chicken dinners until they sell out. Monett man arrested for theft of vehicle in Cassville

A Monett man has been charged for allegedly stealing a vehicle from a home on Highway 112 in Cassville. Ruben Christy, 42, of Monett, is charged with first degree tampering with a motor vehicle. According to a probable cause statement filed by Deputy Wesley Kissinger, with the Barry County Sheriff’s Office, on June 18, Christy allegedly followed the victim into a residence on Highway 112, then when he left, he took off in the victim’s 2004 Oldsmobile...

Monett Marching Pride to debut new show Friday
