Monett takes Carthage tourney crown (High School Sports ~ 12/05/15)
For the first time since 1949, the Monett boys basketball team claimed the title of champion, of the Carthage invitational Tournament. Kobe Besch recorded 23 points and Jonah Paszek added 15 as the No. 3 seed Cubs slipped past top seed McDonald County, 57-54 in Saturday's title tilt. The Cubs, 3-0 on the season, travel to Neosho on Tuesday. Ironically, the Cubs defeated the Wildcats 70-49 in the semifinal to advance to the championship game.
