Dale Burke honored with proclamation (08/02/12)
Longtime municipal court judge and public servant W. Dale Burke was honored by the City of Monett this week with a proclamation in his honor issued by the Monett City Council. Mayor Jim Orr appeared in Monett Municipal Court with Judge Michael Garrett on Tuesday for the reading of the proclamation for Burke, who was killed in a vehicle crash in Monett on July 25 at age 75...
Damage interrupts Internet service (08/02/12)
Suddenlink Internet service along Broadway in Monett was down after a railroad boom truck caught and severed two main feeder lines on Sixth Street near Monett Public Works and The Monett Times, pulling down lines across a two-block area. Sales tax bounces down in July (08/02/12)
Sales tax revenues to bi-county cities and counties took a downward turn in July. The fourth drop in seven months reflected continued instability in the economy. Monett's two sales taxes for the general fund generated $167,577.66 in July, a drop of $21,751.35 from last July. The total was nonetheless the fourth best July on record and the second best in the last four years...

Two people were injured in a single-vehicle crash that occurred at 4:55 p.m. on Tuesday on Route V about one mile west of Mt. Vernon. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when the driver of a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer, Monterey L.
