911 board discusses funding issues (01/11/12)
Monett's 911 Advisory Board discussed efforts to conduct an audit of its database and the continuing debate with the Barry County 911 service over funding during the board's quarterly meeting. Bonnie Witt Schulte, dispatching supervisor for Monett, showed the board a draft letter to be sent to AT&T about getting access to the database used for Monett's 911 service. Monett has been trying to have OnPoint audit the database to see if the charges are proper...
LawCo drops TIF appeal (01/11/12)
Litigation over Monett's tax increment financing (TIF) program became less complicated at the end of December with Lawrence County withdrawing from the appeal of Judge Neil Quitno's ruling in favor of Monett. Quitno finalized his April 20, 2011, judgment on July 24, 2011. Quitno ruled Monett's TIF had been properly formed and under state law should collect tax revenues from subsequently passed sales taxes...

Another tight year for the Barry County budget (01/11/12)
Barry County officials are looking at another bare bones budget in 2012 as they consider just under $3.5 million in spending requests submitted by county officeholders. The 2012 requests total $3,490,143 and are $91,709 less than the total budget of $3,581,852 approved in 2011 and $20,463 less than the county actually spent last year.
