Arkansas man arrested for murder (09/26/11)
An Arkansas man has been charged with second degree murder in connection with a shooting on Friday night in Washburn that left 34-year-old John Bevill dead from an apparent gun shot wound to the chest. According to McDonald County Sheriff Rob Evenson, Brian Clapper, 31, of Bentonville, Ark., was taken into custody without incident and is being held in the McDonald County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 cash bond...

It's not too early to get a flu shot, according to bi-county health officials. Area residents can fight the flu by getting their shot at either the Barry or Lawrence county health departments. Carol Landstad, public health program coordinator at the Barry County Health Department, reported that the local health department received 2,000 doses of the flu vaccine.
