Attempted armed robbey in Mt. Vernon (05/20/11)
On Wednesday, May 18 at 9:18 p.m., an attempted armed robbery occurred at the Fastrip convenience store on the the business loop in Mt. Vernon. The suspect brandished a sawed off shotgun, gave the clerk a plastic sack and demanded the money from the register. The clerk told the suspect she needed to get a key and then went into the office area where authorities were alerted. The suspect left the store...
details about Tyson hatchery shared with Kiwanians (05/20/11)
Details about the operation of the Tyson Foods hatchery in Monett were shared at last week's meeting of the Monett Kiwanis Club. Beth Leubbering, hatchery manager, said Monett has one of 39 hatcheries that Tyson operates around the nation. The hatchery has an average hatch rate of more than 86 percent with eggs that are more than 92 percent fertile. Tyson's hatcheries produce 40 million chicks weekly...
MoDOT official says changes won't affect service (05/20/11)

Purdy's Roller finishes at state (05/20/11)
Purdy's Phillips Roller finished 48 out of 91 golfers in the Class 1 state golf tournament at Sedalia Country Club in Sedalia on Tuesday. Roller, a sophomore, recorded an 86 on the first day of competition and a 90 on day two. "Phillip has put together two great years of golf while at Purdy," said Coach Grant Young. "He has a tremendous up side to his game. Phillip will continue to improve and could challenge for a state title."...
