Crosslines director is retiring after 19 years (12/31/10)
Jolene Garoutte will step down as the director of Crosslines, the Monett charity, on Feb. 2, 2011. Sales tax numbers were up in 2010 (12/31/10)
Sales tax disbursements rose for eight of 11 bi-county towns in December, raising year-end totals for most recipients close to 2009 levels. The comparison stood in sharp contrast to annual totals a year ago in the middle of the economic downturn. Monett received $145,105.42 in December from its two sales taxes for the general fund, almost $7,600 or 5 percent less than a year ago. The city's other two sales taxes recorded similar drops...
Children's Center in Monett to benefit from $2,000 grant (12/31/10)
The Children's Advocacy Center of Southwest Missouri, based in Monett, is the recipient of a $2,000 grant from Verizon Wireless. Verizon made the donation as part of the company's national HopeLine program, which is dedicated to assisting communities, local shelters and agencies in ending domestic violence. The Children's Center in Monett is one of 26 domestic violence prevention organizations in Missouri that will be receiving funds to support local education programs and shelter operations...
