Wilma Dean Moody, 92, of Aurora, was reunited with her husband, Victor, as she entered Heaven, Sunday morning, Aug. 13, 2023. Mom, also affectionately known as Granny and Mamaw, was loved by family and numerous friends.

George W. Lamp, Jr.

Sadly, on July 25, 2023, George W. Lamp Jr. of Monett peacefully passed away in Joplin after a brief illness at the age of 76. Early that morning the clouds lifted, and he was joyously welcomed into Heaven by his parents George Sr. and Mia Lamp.

Rezoning request denied

Monett’s Planning and Zoning Commission last week rejected an application by a local property owner to rezone seven lots in the area of West Nellie and Eisenhower from single-family to multi-family. The current property owner said a developer had expressed interest in purchasing the lots if the city would grant the request for rezoning so that duplex units could be built on the lots.

An Aurora woman who is accused of driving into a group of motorcyclists, killing four of them and seriously injuring six, is seeking to have her case heard in another court.
