Board approves purchase of new equipment The Barry-Lawrence County Ambulance District Board of Directors voted during their meeting on Wednesday, July 12 to approve a new THC testing policy for employees of the district. Medical marijuana use was legalized in Missouri by an amendment to the state constitution during the Nov.

The Missouri State Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood held its 129th annual convention June 2-4 with more than 320 chapter representatives attending. The convention was held at the Downtown Kansas City Marriott.

70 attend fundraiser for Zayleigh Jones

A fundraiser held to benefit Zayleigh Jones, one of the riders hurt in the June 3 traffic crash, was held at a private residence in Aurora on Friday, July 7. About 70 people attended the event, which included a pulledpork dinner, live and silent auctions and karaoke.

A Cassville man was charged on Monday, July 3 with first-degree assault, a charge equivalent in Missouri to attempted murder, after he allegedly attacked an inmate at the Barry County Jail. Laane Sneed, 26, reportedly confessed to the crime.
