Dealing with underage use of marijuana and nicotine vaping has become a much more complicated undertaking for school resource officers (SRO). Jay Jastal, Monett's most experienced SRO who serves on the state SRO board, told the Monett school board in May the Monett SROs will begin an expanded outreach to local parents to explain new subtleties that may make detection and response more difficult.

13 students offered $428,150 to attend colleges Scholarships for graduates at Verona High School were announced during commencement exercises on May 17. Counselor Jodi Arnold announced the A+ scholarships.
