I have been thinking a lot lately about a time when I was young that left me completely befuddled and a little frightened about how people treat one-another. Many years ago I was at a friend’s house, watching a basketball game with his father and brother.

This week, the nation celebrated the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the civil rights activist who championed peaceful integration of the black and white communities, and was brutally murdered for his efforts and beliefs in April of 1968.

DEAR ABBY: My boyfriend of two years, “Rick,” is addicted to social media -- mainly the women on there. I’m not on any of his social media, and it seems like he acts like he’s single there. If he’s not at work, he is at home, but always on his phone.

Winter is tough. I don’t mean the cold weather, the extra 15 minutes it takes to defrost your vehicle if you don’t park in a garage, icy roads or the expensive heating bill.

DEAR ABBY: Three months ago, my husband of 30 years came home from work, told me he wasn’t happy anymore and said he wanted a divorce. He announced he was moving in with his brother until he could find a place.

Dear Editor, Like most things in life, the proposed roundabout at Hwy 37 and Broadway is a multi-faceted issue. First and foremost, is the potential use of eminent domain to subsume a local businessman’s property, which, as related in the city council meeting on 20 Dec., has been in continuous operation through three generations for 75 years.

So long 2023. It’s been a year.
