Is Monett losing its identity?

During the February meeting of the Monett School Board, student representative Katie Geiss offered a report on student activities at the high school that raised intriguing questions. Focusing primarily on the recent basketball season, Geiss said rallying school spirit has become difficult.

Husband pressures wife to dress more provocatively

EAR ABBY: My husband wants me to wear more revealing clothing. I’ve always enjoyed dressing attractively, and have never felt behind the times or like a frump, but I do have my opinion about what is appropriate. For example, if I’m wearing leggings, I wear a long top to cover my bum. My outfits are attractive and not ultra-conservative by any means, but I’m not a crop top, low-cut, skin-tight kind of gal.

Is anybody listening?

Alongstanding problem in Monett stems from people not paying any attention to what anybody else does. Whether it’s scheduling a public event, a church fundraiser, a concert or a festival, planners in Monett historically seem to throw darts at a calendar and pick dates depending on what works for them.

Dear Dave, I have an idea for a small business I think would be a huge success in my area. How do you feel about me keeping my current day job, and hiring a full-time manager for the business to handle the day-to-day operations, while I do the accounting and oversee things? If it doesn’t break even or better, I can always close it.
