Notes float for Wormington

A balloon release celebrated the life of Sebastian Wormington, 17, a former Monett student who was shot and killed in Springfield recently. More than 100 people attended the event in rural Purdy, southwest of Monett, on Wednesday evening. The Pierce City Senior Center will be serving lunch from noon to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Everyone is welcome and lunch is $5 for those ages 55 and older, and $6 for those under 55. Carry-out meals will be available to those who contact the center at 417-476-5006 before 10:30 a.m. Also, Nell’s Nails will be serving seniors for a nominal fee at 9 a.m. the first Thursday of each month.

Preschool progress

Progress continues at Life360 Preschool at the Life 360 Resource Center on Lincoln Avenue in Monett. Construction crews last week began renovating the preschool grounds, removing concrete and grass to make way for a new playground area on the west side of the school. Final jail escapee captured

The third and final Barry County jail escapee has been apprehended, 675 miles away from Cassville. According to a press release from Chris Bozeman, deputy U.S. Marshal and public affairs officer with the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, Lance Stephens was arrested Tuesday night at a hotel in the 6500 block of West Military Avenue in San Antonio.
