DEAR ABBY: I need some advice regarding my mother-in-law. She has hated me since the first time she met me because I’m not from the country but from “the city.” I have given her gifts for birthdays and holidays and invited her on day trips with us, but she always refuses.

The Knights of Columbus at St. Lawrence CatholicChurchinMonett will host the annual Mouse Race fundraiser, with dinner starting at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, and the first race kicking off at 7 p.m. Early race mouse purchases are $25 and include entry, meal and beverage. The Pierce City Senior Center will serve Frito pie, vegetables, salad and dessert on Feb 9. Cost if $5 for ages 55 and older and $6 for those 55 years and younger.
