By law, every two years the Barry County Clerk’s Office is required to canvass the voters before a general election for federal office. This is for the purpose of updating records with correct addresses and names. The clerk’s office will be sending each registered voter a new Voter Registration ID Card around Dec. 18. When community members receive their card, they are asked to verify that the information is correct. If the information is not correct, they are requested to fill out a corrected card and return it to the office. Those who no longer live in Barry County are asked to notify the elections office in writing.

Route 37 between Broadway and Cale in Monett will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 12 through Friday, Dec. 22 for sewer line improvements. The city is having technology called “pipe bursting’ done to replace the line. This consists of running a tool through the pipe, bursting it and widening the hole, then pulling the pipe back through. This will allow for a quicker project as only the manhole locations and sewer services for houses will have to be dug up. The project could run longer if it is delayed by wet weather.
