Jones down Broadway in a wheelbarrow. Loren Holmes, chairman of the church’s special gifts committee, said $65,000 of the $75,000 goal for the building improvement fund could be raised by May 7. Hunt, chairman of the advance gift committee, said if it was, he would push the mayor down the street. The goal was topped by May 6. Accompanying the spectacle were Rev. William Oldham at left, Dr. R.F. Whitlock, vice chair of the campaign, and Holmes at right. The drive ended $20,000 over the goal.
