This shows how cramped the room was at the time. This photo was taken to introduce Jan Jeffcott, who began her duties on Jan. 1, 1974 as young adult services librarian. Jeffcott, a Neosho native, was working on her master’s degree in library and information science at Mizzou. She went on to a distinguished career in Wisconsin and later as a mayor in Michigan.
