Aurora man held on multiple felonies
Fries denies all allegations of criminal sexual activity
An Aurora man is behind bars pending trial on several felony charges stemming from alleged sexual crimes perpetrated over a three-year period.
Matthew Fries, 39, is charged with first-degree sodomy or attempted sodomy, an unclassified felony; incest, an E felony; and first-degree endangering the welfare of a child creating substantial risk ó 1st offense ó sexual conduct, a D felony.
According to the statement of probable cause, the victim, who is under the age of 18, was interviewed at the Child Advocacy Center and claimed to be the victim of alleged physical and mental abuse by Matthew Fries, 39, and his wife, Kari Fries, from June 2017 through June 2020.
The victim alleged Matthew Fries had locked the house in the past when it was cold and there was snow on the ground. The victim was not wearing shoes at the time and as a result, the victimís feet turned purple. The victim also alleged to being locked in the basement on occasion for hours without food or water. Fries also directed the victimís siblings to hit the victim or he would. Fries is also accused of slamming the victimís head into a wall.
The victim said Fries would request a foot massage and then force the victim to perform sexual acts.
A witness also said Fries would wait until other family members were in bed then would force the victim to rub his feet. The witness said it was odd that he would take the victim into his bedroom and lock the door for long periods of time when his wife was not at home.
According to Det. Sgt. Levi Bruner, with the Aurora-Marionville Police Department, Fries denied all allegations of abuse or sexual assault in a follow-up interview.
Fries was booked into the Lawrence County Jail on Monday and is being held without bond pending a trial. A hearing has yet to be set.
