Purdy Craft and Vendor Show on Saturday
Seventh annual event bringing nearly 100 crafters and vendors
Good food, unique crafts and fine arts will be on hand in Purdy this weekend for the seventh annual Purdy Craft and Vendor Fair scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
This year, organizer Julie Terry said the show is going to be bigger than ever with more than 90 vendors coming from all over the region.
She said community members can expect to find collectables, art, fresh flowers seasonal items, children’s books, clothing, military items, pet supplies and much more.
And, that’s just the craft side of the event.
On tap for food, Terry said the Purdy Craft and Vendor Show will feature Mexican food, barbecue smashburgers, frozen yogurt, cotton candy, kettle corn baked goods and more.
Terry and her husband, Ken, hosted the first Purdy Craft and Vendor Show in the Purdy Gathering Place in 2015. That first year, they had 25 booths between 100 and 200 guests.
The following year, with more vendors and more attendees scheduled, the Terry’s erected a tent outside the Gathering Place to provide more room.
Since then, the Craft and Vendor Show has spilled out onto Old Business 37, which is closed for the event each year to accommodate the huge crowds. In fact, Terry said last year’s show drew more than 800 visitors to the area.
This year, inside the Gathering Place, attendees will find a face-painting booth and a photo booth so local families and visitors can create life-long memories in Purdy.
“I had a lady call me yesterday that lives six hours away that wanted a booth in our craft show,” Terry said.
The Terrys are also the masterminds behind the Purdy Christmas Parade, the Purdy Community Picnic and the Purdy Picnic and Fireworks show in July.
“Ken and I are both very community minded,” Julie said. “Purdy is a very small community, but these events draw people from all over.”
