Marionville’s Applefest celebration coming soon
Vendor booths, carnival rides, games and parade highlight event
The 32nd annual Marionville fall festival will be held on September 17 and 18. The theme this year is “Helping Hands Build Community.”
The Applefest Pageant will be held at 4 p.m. on Sept. 11 at the Marionville First Baptist Church.
Applefest festivities begin at noon on Sept. 17 with the opening of more than 70 craft and food booths, Kidz Zone, and a free carnival for children. There will be entertainment on the stage throughout the afternoon and the Marionville’s Got Talent children’s talent show at 7 p.m.
Applefest resumes at 9 a.m. on Sept. 18 with the annual Applefest Parade scheduled to kick off at 10 a.m. parade line up starts at 9 a.m. at the corner of O’Dell and Chicago Streets. Entries so far include nine marching bands, the Shriners, numerous old vehicles, floats, an entourage of Applefest Pageant winners, church and miscellaneous other groups. There is no entry fee and other churches and organizations are welcome to participate.
Several contests will take place on stage at noon, including Snow White, Johnny Appleseed, White Squirrel, husband calling, sexy legs, and pie eating. Winners of the Apple Dessert Baking competition will be announced and the items auctioned off. Entries need to be taken to the stage area by 11 a.m. on Saturday.
There will be a car show after the parade and entertainment and kids’ activities throughout the afternoon, including the Marionville Idol contest at 2 p.m.
The festivities will conclude with a performance by the Eddie Valen Band at 7 p.m., followed by Clayton’s Fireworks.
