Arrest made after foot chase
Woman detained for warrant then has medical emergency
Monett resident Tara Carroll, 29, was arrested Tuesday evening following a check for felony warrants by Monett Police Officer Kristin Butterworth.
According to Monett Police Lt. Dennis Camp, Carroll was stopped at 310 Kyler Street at approximately 6:50 p.m. for three outstanding warrants – two for probation violations and one for first degree property damage.
Camp said while Butterworth was escorting Carroll to the squad car following the arrest, Carroll took flight on foot heading north on Kyler to Dairy Street.
Butterworth apprehended Carroll at A-1 Rental, at which time Carroll had a medical emergency.
Officer Butterworth and Sgt. Bob Kauffman rendered medical aid and contacted emergency medical services.
Carroll was transported to Cox Monet Hospital before being taken to Springfield for treatment.
Camp said the officers that made the arrest did not discharge any weapons that resulted in the medical emergency and said both Butterworth and Kauffman should be commended for their quick response to the medical emergency and their ability to render aid.
In addition to the felony warrants, Carroll is also being charged with resisting arrest by fleeing and possession of drug paraphernalia.
