Traffic accident causes outage

The city of Monett and areas toward Purdy is currently without power, with no timetable on it being repaired.

According to the city's Facebook page, the power went out due to a traffic accident that has disrupted service to all areas.

"City crews have responded, but it is still early to determine how long power may be out," the post said.

Officials say it is not necessary to report outages at this time.

According to Liberty Utilities, more than 1,200 customers are affected from just north of Cassville to Verona and Pierce City, north almost to I-44.

UPDATE: The city of Monett's Facebook page said at 4:10 p.m. that the accident that disrupted power in Monett occurred on Farm Road 1090 south of town. The Monett Electric Department will be able to switch the load and restore power soon.
