Thefts reported at YMCA
Police investigating stolen personal electronics
Monett police officers are investigating reports of two thefts that occurred at the Monett Area YMCA during an all-night skate event held Friday and Saturday.
Monett Police Lt. Dennis Camp said two personal electronic devices were stolen from unlocked lockers in the YMCA pool locker rooms during the event.
One device is valued at $208, and the second device that was reported stolen is valued at $100.
“We had two reports of two separate thefts in the same night,” Camp said. “Both of them follow the exact same M.O.”
Camp said investigators are following up on all leads and reviewing available security camera footage. In the case of electronics thefts, investigators can often track devices once they are turned on, which would allow investigators to locate the stolen items.
“Unfortunately, this isn’t all that uncommon,” Camp said. “We get reports once or twice a month of items stolen from unlocked lockers.”
Camp said anyone with information about the thefts is encouraged to contact the police department at 417-354-TIPS or 417-235-4241.
