Purdy High School holiday royals crowned

Purdy High School crowned Clay Henderson, a junior, and Shelby Haskins, a senior, as the 2019 Mister and Miss Merry Christmas at a special coronation ceremony between basketball games on Friday, Dec. 13.

The crowning capped a fun-filled Winter Wonderland Week of activities planned by the Purdy High School Student Council, including themed dress-up days such as flannels and fuzzy socks, crazy sweaters, pajamas and favorite Christmas character. Student Council also hosted the annual Mr. and Miss Merry Christmas assembly, which featured games, student and staff shout-outs. Special performances by the Purdy High School Cheerleaders and the newly formed Purdy High School Dance Team on Friday afternoon were included. A Winter Wonderland Dance for high school students to wrap up the festive evening.

The royal court rode in Monett's Christmas parade.

Holiday royals included Makayla Mazza, daughter of Jennifer Logan, and Ryan Mitchell, son of Crystal Miller and Jay Mitchell, for the freshman class; Caitlin Brown, daughter of Tate and Kindria Brown and Christy and Josh Carlin, and Weston Ellison, son of Max and Sara Ellison, for the sophomore class; Aubrey Knatcal, daughter of Charles and Nicole Knatcal, and Clay Henderson, son of Jay and Shelley Henderson, for the junior class; and Shelby Haskins, daughter of David and Karen Haskins, and Antonio Rodriguez, son of Enedilia and Antonio Rodriguez, for the senior class.
