Action planned on transportation projects
The Monett City Council will advance its plan for a power pool and transportation projects during the December monthly meeting, slated for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Monett City Hall.
Council members plan to approve a contract with the Missouri Joint Municipal Electric Utility Commission that will advance the new pool for buying wholesale electricity formed jointly by the city and Mt. On transportation issues, the council
plans to execute an agreement with the Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission for a traffic engineering assistance program. The city and commission plan to collaborate on improvements at the Highways 60 and 37 intersection. Council members also plan to hire TranSystems Corporation, the firm that guided passage of the transportation sales tax, for another engineering study. At the same time, the council will renew its contract for services from Anderson Engineering.
On construction projects, a change order is up for consideration with contractor R.E. Smith for the aquatic center. Another change order is planned for the contract with McClanahan Construction for work at the wastewater treatment plant.
In other business, council members plan to reappoint Jane Sligar and Ron Smith to the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Commission. City employees will be recognized for years of service. A closed session is planned for discussion over acquisition of real estate.
