Monett High School names 2015 honor graduates

Graduation speakers to be chosen from top 10 percent

Honor graduates for the Monett High School Class of 2015 have been announced by Principal David Steward.

The 166 graduates will receive their academic honors at the Senior Honors Assembly at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 11 in the high school commons. Diplomas will be awarded during commencement exercises at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 15.

This will be the first year that Monett will not have a valedictorian and salutatorian. Steward sought the change to offer broader recognition for the class' top achievers. Speakers at commencement will be determined by volunteers from the top 10 percent and, if necessary, a drawing to pick two class representatives.

The 17 members of the top 10 percent include:

* Brooke Burnside, daughter of Kevin and Jane Burnside;

* Garrett Craig, son of William Craig and Rebekkah Mahl;

* Tara Hancock, daughter of Ric and Tracy Hancock;

* Kiersten Harper, daughter of Mark and Kelly Harper;

* Wesley Kilgore, son of Bradley and Jennifer Kilgore;

* Isaac Long, son of Danny and Christy Long;

* McKenna Mahl, daughter of William Mahl and Lori Banning;

* Tarek Masri, son of Fares and Lauren Masri;

* Saloni Patel, daughter of Sandip and Dharma Patel;

* Jessica Perez, daughter of Jose Perez and Alejandra Barrientos;

* Hannah Pitts, daughter of Jeremy and Teresa Pitts;

* Andrew Rausch, son of George and Ann Marie Rausch;

* Adriel Ridenour, daughter of Brad and Ruth Ridenour;

* Polet Rodriguez, daughter of Jesus and Priciliana Rodriguez;

* Kailee Ticknor, daughter of Matt and Sara Ticknor;

* Nathan Webb, son of Jason and Cheryl Webb;

* Willow Welters, daughter of Tom and Neva Welters.
