The First United Methodist Church in Monett will host a chili cookoff from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 28 at 1600 N. Central. Proceeds will benefit the Boy Scouts. Cost will be $5 for adults, $4 for children and $15 for a family. To enter the competition, interested persons may call 236-2281.
The Aurora United Methodist Church, 1211 S. Carnation Dr., will present "Glorious Day" for the Palm Sunday service at 10 a.m. on March 29. The program includes songs from Casting Crowns, Aaron Shust and character-specific songs from Lee Black and Gina Boe.
Lacoba Homes in Monett will host an Easter Egg Hunt at 2:30 p.m. on April 3. Participants are asked to enter from the Highway 60 side of the facility.
Painters April Davis Brunner and Becky Golubski have rescheduled their March "Canvas and Coffee" session at Mocha Jo's in Monett to 6 to 8:30 p.m. on March 31. Cost is $40. All materials will be supplied. Participants will create an 8-by-10-inch acrylic painting. There is unlimited brewed coffee, tea, soda and snacks for the evening generously offered by Mocha Jo's. The Monett Senior Center will host its spring dance from 7 to 10 p.m. on Monday, April 6 at 405 Dairy St. Music will be provided by Evelyn Lock and the Outrider Band. Cost is $3. Participants are encouraged to wear Easter bonnets and bring snacks to share.
St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Monett will host a fish fry today, March 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the church parish hall. Cost is $8 for adults and $7 for seniors and children.

The 'For the Kids' Foster/Adoptive Parent Association will host a Breakfast with the Easter Bunny fundraiser from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday March 28 at the First United Methodist Church, 1600 N. Central in Monett. Tickets are $4 adults, $3 for children under 12. The Easter Bunny will be available for pictures. A raffle will be held for various prizes. Healthy Schools, Healthy Communities will offer a cooking class on Monday, March 30 at 5:30 p.m. in the teaching kitchen at Scott Regional Technology Center in Monett. This class is free and available for people wanting to learn some new healthy snack options. All attendees will receive a $10 gift certificate to Ramey/Price Cutter in Monett. The Monett/Purdy affiliate of Habitat for Humanity will hold a groundbreaking for its ninth house at 10 a.m. on April 4 on East Nellie Street in Monett.
